Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career working as a TV and radio reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for journalism excellence, including an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell was frequently together with the President Reagan to meetings together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
